Being a dad taught me one thing very fast.
Time is not infinite.
One moment I am changing the diaper, next I am doing lunch, then I am washing the dishes. At the same time, I have a screaming baby that stole the vroom from i don't know where, opening every drawer to get my attention :D ...
It's a funny, challenging and very rewarding life. And then you ask... when I get time to work when he is awake?
Well, yeah I don't, that's why we are two (me and my wife). When one is working, the other one is "babying".
This is just an example that new dads can resonate with.
My message here is to choose carefully how you spend the time you have, daily.
Journal the day before the most important tasks you have to do, your brain will know in the morning what your small "ikigai" is.
And remember: you only live once, so don't be afraid to try new things because you are young!
Yes, you are young, even if you are 50, 60, 70, 80 years old. Look at all the oldest people that launched something that changed their life!
You are always one decision away from a completely different life!
So don't wait. Don't wait for the perfect moment. It will never come. But you will be always ready, you simply don't know, until you do the first step. The moment is now "carpe diem".
Don't let your fear stop you from being your authentic self.
Don't let your fear of the unknown, your fear of the uncertainty, your fear of not being enough, your fear of what others will think of you...don't let your main fear be greater than the willingness to grow, to evolve, to thrive, to leave your current bubble of comfort.
You read this and think, oh this guy knows all the answers in life... I wish (actually not, life is more fun this way). I don't, and nobody knows until there is no other choice to learn while we walk our chosen path. I am as lost and scared as you.
From 9-5 to freelancing (web design & webflow dev) to being a dad
Almost 3 years ago I chose Webflow after leaving my old job as a frontend developer (where I stayed for almost 5 years)
I wanted a new challenge, learn more about design (I chose Flux Academy) and more freedom. I felt stuck, professionally, and in life. I discovered Webflow, and started freelancing...and omg, I wasn't ready for this world.
It is easy when we hear, "ah it is so good that you are your own boss now, what an easy life, work whenever you feel like it, and not 9-5". Yeah, instead of 9-5, now is more like...8-22 :)
Of course, i am emphasizing, but the beggining of freelancing is tough.
It is not only the technical part, but sales, communication, marketing, building systems for everything. Proposal, invoices, legal parts, how to outreach, how to gain visibility online.
Decisions during a challenging time
In the meantime, I had a baby with my beautiful wife, so life did a 360...twice, from working a 9-5 to freelancing, and now freelancing and being a dad? Mission (almost) impossible.
It was when I needed more time, that time was running away.
And not because of procrastination, because a new life was being nurtured!
Now, in the middle of 2026, with AI, and mainly Claude, another 360!
Not only for me but for the world.
What to choose? It was a waste the webflow experience I gain? Of course not!
Everything is a learning experience, and we never start from the zero.
Webflow and AI workflow
I did several websites in webflow for the wellness niche, very complex CMS and GSAP animations (at least for me at the time ok :), every person is on a different level in life and professionally, so one thing I like to say is: never compare your chapter 1 with the chapter 56 of someone you discover online).
I learned how to do brand strategy, to understand the purpose, the vision and mission of the business, and only then jump to design with Figma, using Relume to accelerate this phase and maintaining high quality, and finishing in Webflow.
Now with AI? A whole new set of solutions, Sanity for CMS, Vercel for hosting, Claude for design, Github for control versioning...and many other options out there.
The next chapter?
This is one of the reasons I am now open to work again in a 9-5 environment, now a more mature, proactive and experienced person. For an agency, studio, or company, merging my knowledge of working in a startup, and the other side of the coin, freelancing. Knowing that results matter more than the amount of time worked, and how important it is for every employee to feel happy and fulfilled.
So, now the next question is: what to choose in this chaotic world?
Webflow? AI workflow only? Or completely quit this uncertaint digital path and go completely analog, learning to connect with the land and grow our own vegetables, or even monetize some of our hobbies?
Many questions, even more answers, they are just hidden (for now).
Read here my opinions on that, not from an expert, but for someone who's just as lost as you are and want to thrive as a person, physically, mentally, spirituality, and provide for the family.
